Melissa (Mel) Joiner is a Certified Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Breast Feeding Counselor, and Childbirth Educator. She is a peaceful yet spirited soul with a deep love for humanity. As an experienced Birth Doula, Melissa enjoys caring for women and their families. Her passion is serving women and their families throughout this momentous time. She accompanies women as they prepare for childbirth, and continues to support them in birth and beyond. Melissa shares her understanding of birth, breastfeeding, and holistic parenting to advise and support women in their decision-making process. She sees her work as one of nurturing women as they explore their birth visions and walk with them as they uncover their own practices and customs that will birth these visions into being. She understands the dynamic nature of pregnancy, labor, and birth and incorporates these various aspects when consulting with clients.
Just like Mary Poppins, Mel is a loving woman who comes in and saves the day by helpfully responding to families' needs.

Pregnancy, birth, and the transition into parenthood are often described as a wonderful but fleeting time of great change for new parents. But they can be overwhelming, too! You are trying to become a parent, as well as renegotiate new roles with partners, parents, or other children. Your mind and body undergo a huge shift and it is often hard to know what is normal. These can be a lot to deal with alone! As doulas, we are here to help you through this transition!
Meli Poppins Doula offers Childbirth Education Classes, Professional Birth Doula Support, and Postpartum & Infant Care Doula Services in the greater Memphis area. We also serve West Tennessee Counties, Nashville, TN, Desoto County, Mississippi, and Crittenden County areas.
Our goal is to make sure that each client feels they are confident, supported, relaxed, and well prepared for birth. We will support you and help you have the birth you desire.

As a Postpartum Doula, we assist families in the transition into parenthood by providing reassurance, hands-on support, and reliable, evidence-based information. We also assist with household organizations so families can focus on their new baby.​ We recognize the challenges new parents face and we believe that postpartum care is critical.
